The Haymarket opened in 1865 as the Corn Exchange for the town at a cost of £4,000 and since then, has provided live entertainment to thousands of people every year. The building, set over multiple levels required a replacement fire alarm system due to age related defects in the current Ziton system.
Being an old building, The Haymarket bought a number of challenges to our teams throughout the installation. To add to these challenges, we were presented with an extremely tight time frame to complete the project allowing the theatre to reopen on time for shows. Not only that but parts of the building were listed and so our engineering teams had to pay particular attention to ensuring not to damage or alter priceless areas of the building.
Sentinel worked closely with the site management team carrying out the full replacement of the current Ziton system with an Advanced MXpro5 and Apollo Discovery system as well as a VESDA air sampling system throughout the loft space covering the theatre area. The new system was installed alongside the old one ensuring full coverage at all times and was integrated to the access control system and voice evacuation system.
Even with the tight time frame, the installation was completed ahead of schedule and fully inline with the specification allowing the theatre to reopen to the public on time.
